Crown PCC 160  (AKG PCC-160)

Boundary Layer Microphone

The AKG PCC160 is a professional boundary layer microphone designed for stage-floor, conferencing, and other surface-mounted applications. Its supercardioid polar pattern helps improve gain before feedback while reducing unwanted room noise arriving from the rear.

AKG PCC160 Competitive Differences

  • PCC® Phase Coherent Cardioid® technology provides a wide, smooth frequency response with phase cancellations shifted above the audible range
  • Supercardioid polar pattern improves gain before feedback and reduces unwanted rear pickup
  • Three-position bass-tilt switch allows the low-frequency response to be tailored for different applications
  • Handles sound pressure levels up to 120 dB SPL without distortion
  • Low-profile boundary design is well suited for stage floors, conference tables, and installed applications

AKG PCC160 Description

The AKG PCC160 is an industry-standard stage floor microphone that combines a low-profile boundary design with a highly directional supercardioid pickup pattern. It is designed for applications where a microphone needs to capture clear sound from a surface while remaining visually unobtrusive.

PCC® Phase Coherent Cardioid® technology uses extremely small diaphragms so that phase cancellations occur above the audible frequency range. This helps the PCC160 deliver a smooth 50 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response without the audible phase interference that can affect conventional boundary microphone designs.

The supercardioid polar pattern helps reject unwanted sound from the rear while providing increased gain before feedback, making the microphone especially useful on stage and in challenging acoustic environments. A three-position bass-tilt switch provides additional control over the low-frequency response to suit different placements and applications.

With a compact 170 x 80 x 20 mm enclosure, black finish, and 12 to 48 V powering range, the PCC160 is suited for professional stage, conferencing, and installed sound systems. Its 120 dB SPL capability also allows it to handle loud sources without distortion.
