Audio-Technica ATH-AL5NC Description
The Audio-Technica ATH-AL5NC brings wireless operation to an open-back over-ear design built around specially developed 53mm dynamic drivers. The open housings allow greater airflow around the drivers and ears while creating the spacious, natural presentation associated with open-back headphones. With a frequency response extending from 20 Hz to 40 kHz and LDAC support, the ATH-AL5NC is designed for detailed high-resolution listening.
A dedicated noise-reduction function helps minimize low-frequency environmental distractions while preserving the characteristics of the open-back design. Noise reduction can be used in both Bluetooth and wired modes, while a separate Sound Leakage Reduction mode helps limit the amount of audio escaping into shared spaces. For video and gaming, Low-Latency mode improves synchronization between picture and sound.
Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity supports LDAC, AAC, and SBC codecs, along with multipoint pairing for maintaining connections to two devices at once. Integrated microphones support phone calls and online meetings, while the A-T Connect app provides access to EQ adjustment, presets, codec selection, Low-Latency mode, Soundscape functions, firmware updates, and additional headphone settings.
At approximately 8.5 oz (240 g), the ATH-AL5NC is designed for comfortable extended listening with a padded headband and circumaural earcups. Battery life reaches up to 75 hours with noise reduction disabled and up to 50 hours with it enabled, while USB-C charging and quick-charge support keep downtime to a minimum. The headphones also fold flat for easier storage in the included carrying pouch and support conventional wired listening through the detachable 3.5mm audio cable.
