The sE Electronics X1 A is designed as an adaptable condenser microphone for engineers, musicians, content creators, and home-studio users who need one microphone capable of handling a broad range of sources. Its permanently biased 2/3-inch electret condenser capsule uses a cardioid pickup pattern to focus on sound arriving from the front while reducing pickup from the rear.

With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the X1 A is suitable for vocals, acoustic guitars, percussion, amplified instruments, brass, and other full-range sources. Its 16dBA equivalent noise level helps preserve detail when recording quieter material, while a maximum SPL of 130dB without attenuation provides substantial headroom for louder instruments.

Engaging the -20dB pad extends maximum SPL handling to 150dB, making the microphone useful for close-miking high-output sources such as guitar cabinets, drums, and brass instruments. A switchable 100Hz low-cut filter with a 6dB-per-octave slope helps remove low-frequency rumble and can reduce excessive bass caused by close-miking proximity effect.
