The sE Electronics sE8 Cardioid Capsule brings the original focused pickup pattern of the sE8 pencil condenser to compatible sE8 microphone bodies. Its true condenser design uses an ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm and precision-engineered backplate to capture transients and subtle tonal details with a smooth, balanced response.

The cardioid polar pattern emphasizes sound arriving from the front while reducing pickup from the rear. This makes the capsule well suited for applications where source isolation and control of room sound or nearby instruments are important, including acoustic guitar, piano, drums, cymbals, percussion, woodwinds, strings, vocals, and ensemble recording.

When installed on an sE8 microphone body, the capsule provides a 20 Hz-20 kHz frequency range, 25 mV/Pa sensitivity, and a low 13 dBA equivalent noise level. The sE8 body's selectable attenuation settings allow maximum SPL handling of 139 dB, 149 dB, or 159 dB with the 0, -10, or -20 dB pad settings respectively.

The interchangeable design also retains access to the sE8 body's selectable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters and -10 dB / -20 dB attenuation pads. This allows users to configure the microphone for quieter acoustic material or high-output sources without changing the capsule.
