sE Electronics sE8 omni Description
The sE Electronics sE8 omni combines a precision-engineered omnidirectional capsule with the flexible electronics of the sE8 platform. Its ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm and carefully designed electrode provide fast transient response, smooth frequency reproduction, and natural capture of both the primary sound source and its surrounding acoustic environment.
The omnidirectional pattern makes the microphone particularly useful for orchestral and ensemble recording, choirs, acoustic guitar, piano, strings, woodwinds, drums, percussion, cymbals, and overhead applications. Because sound is captured from all directions, the sE8 omni can preserve room ambience and spatial detail that more directional microphones intentionally reject.
For louder sources, selectable -10 dB and -20 dB attenuation pads increase maximum SPL handling from 141 dB to 151 dB or 161 dB respectively. This allows the microphone to handle high-output instruments such as drums, percussion, brass, and other close-miked sources while maintaining a wide dynamic range.
Two switchable low-cut filters at 80 Hz and 160 Hz provide additional control over low-frequency rumble, vibration, and other unwanted bass energy. The all-metal housing, gold-plated 3-pin XLR output, and 48V phantom-powered design make the sE8 omni suitable for demanding studio, live recording, and location-recording environments.
